Program participants in current program year: 116 children and their families

Goal:
To promote health prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, enhance the development of children ages 0 to 3 years, and promote healthy family functioning for program families.

Services provided:
Program provides quality childcare with program options to meet individual family needs. Supportive services are provided to pregnant women, expectant fathers and pregnant teens. Classrooms provide an inclusive environment for children with special needs. Program also offers low classroom ratios, nutritional meals, health screenings, and a male-friendly environment along with volunteer and employment opportunities. Staff provides support for children transitioning into the Head Start program.

What the program can/cannot do:
Program can offer options to meet individual family schedules due to employment.

Program cannot provide transportation.

Program cannot provide child care after regular hours of operation.

Who is eligible:
Household income must fall at or below 100% of the current poverty guideline.

Information/documentation required for application:
Households begin the application process by completing a Pre-application which is available at their county Community Action Program office. Households will be contacted when Early Head Start slots are available and will be provided a list of required documentation which includes proof of income.

Additional information:
The Early Head Start program is not currently available in Gibson County.
