Program participants in current program year: 54

Goal:
Place retired seniors, age 60 and over, to work one-to-one with individual children who have special needs in Vanderburgh, Gibson and Posey Counties.

Services provided:
Monthly stipend
Mileage reimbursement
Monthly in-serve training

What program can/cannot do:
Program requires annual physical exam and TB test which is reimbursed at $25 per year.

Program can be a source of additional income and an extremely rewarding experience.

Program cannot provide transportation to host agency but participants can receive city bus tokens at no cost.

Who is eligible:
Persons age 60 and over who meet current income eligibility guidelines.

Persons must be in good physical condition to serve 15-20 hours per week.

Proof of income, legal identification, and proof of age
Health Insurance information
No felony record

Additional information:
Foster Grandparents assist in a child's development of motor skills, self care, learning skills, and independence, and provide emotional support, role modeling, tender love and care, and a sense of stability.
